The Inter Centre Motorcycle
Grass Track Championship returns in 2009
After an absence of 9 years the Inter Centre Grass
Track Championship will be back in 2009 on Sunday June 14 at
Ugley, near Stansted, Essex
The event, which is steeped in history pitches
the various regions all over England (or Centres as they are
known in motorcycle circles) together to see who has the best
riders, in each capacity for both solo and sidecar.
The Dunmow Club is putting up prize money of over
£3,000 for the event and full grids are expected in all
races with 12 solos on the start line and 6 sidecars.
Teams from as far away as Cornwall and the North
West of England will travel to compete for their share of the
spoils, it is an event that brings out great regional pride
with riders of the same region cheering on their fellow competitors
against other rivals.
The riders each ride against each other 3 times
with the teams with the highest points getting to compete in
the Finals where all is won or lost.
The last event was held in Bridgewater back in
2000 when the Eastern region, to which the Dunmow Club are affiliated,
swept the board winning all 3 solos classes, and boasted that
had they taken sidecars teams with them then they would have
won the lot!
The event is sure to produce some spectacular
Grass Track Racing and the event always draws a big crowd with
many arriving in their teams colours for lots of friendly banter.
The Inter Centre Team Managers will start scratching
their heads, looking at who has been winning this year and then
start putting their teams together ready for 14th June 2009.
