After an absence of just two years the ACU British
Under Grass Track Championships is returning to Ugley, near
Stansted, Essex on Sunday 13 June 2010 when the Dunmow Motorcycle
Club host the Championship for 500cc Solo machines.
The event consists of 4 rides for each competitor
followed by a semi final and then a final with points from
all rides carrying through the meeting.
The young 24 invited solo 500cc riders from
as far away as Cornwall and Yorkshire will include up and
coming speedway riders who will take on already established
grass track stars such as Charlie Saunders and maybe we will
see young stars such as Harland Cook and Georgie Wood moving
up in capacity class to fight for this title.
A previous championship (The Clubmans) to be
run at the track in 2004 was won by a young Chris Harris who
is now featuring on our TV screens in the Speedway Grand Prix!
The track is the traditional Ugley Bowl which
provides for spectacular action and the club is prepared for
possible dust with a water cart which will be used on a little
and often basis. The British Under 21 Championship is supported
by the Eastern Centre Championship for all classes. Admission
prices for this National Championship will be £10 Adults,
£8 OAP’s and Children under 16 will remain at
just £1 to make it a cheap family day out..
The track will be signposted from Junction 8
of the M11 and the B1383, practice is at midday with racing
starting at 1.30pm. Weatherline 01371 870123.
